With good crunchy guitars, crisp + clear mellow acoustic bits and some good shredding solos thrown in here n there (a couple of which feel a little unnecessary) this album shows talented musicians, with a good future ahead of them, working hard at perfecting their craft. By following the tried + trusted formulas of old school metal songs arrangements can seem a bit pedestrian and repetitive at times. The lyrical content can be a bit lacking and a bit Emo at times (ok, let’s face it we can all be a bit Emo sometimes, can’t we), also the vocals may have been better if recorded at a lower volume in parts. This album does seem to get better with each song though and I’ve chosen four of them as being real stand-outs: Tracks 5 and 10 sound like they would be awesome performed live, track 9 (my best pick) is a good solid sign of things to come and track 12 the final song adds a good anthemic finish to the album. All in all, this album is a fairly good first outing for a very promising band who I know only gets better from here. If you’re a fan of bands like A7X, Trivium or AFI you should be able to find something good to sink your teeth into here, Cheers, Mick Read full review
