The Western Digital Caviar Black Drives are solid and reliable and purported to be the better of the current crop of drives. All Western Digital Drives mostly work well but I suspect the Caviar Blue Drives work best in desktop PC's whilst the Black and Red drives seem to work better in Server's and RAID environs. I am not noticing any faster speed (despite the 64 Mb cache) but so far the drive works well and is certainly satisfactory . By comparison to most other brands this is a quality item and not common in Australia so I am not sure where the seller is getting them from as he no longer seems to be offering them for sale which is a bit odd as they are quite a good product. Given I am an IT Consultant of 30 years standing I am a bit loathe to rave about any brand but I certainly prefer Western Digital drives over all others but its a debate that will always be heated.
