I gave the rods a chance after their self titled album (The Rods) was one of my favorite albums of the 80's. This one however disappointed me at first I must say. But if you can bite the bullet and listen a few times over it does get better. They do a cover of Kim Wilde's keep me hanging on which is pretty dismal. Unless they are doing this as a joke and hate Kim Wilde, I'm not sure but this gives the song no justice and is a terrible cover. Other songs are OK to good. Rocking and rolling again is probably the pick and others are OK like I said after a few listens. I would like to remember the rods from their self titled album where they really went into the studio and gave it their all. Every note of every track you can sense how hard all the guys are trying to make it sound a great rock and roll album. You can sense they are just there to make a record and no other reason which reflects in just how good their album (The Rods) turned out. I guess you can't expect this from every album bands make (except the great ones) I suppose that what separates the average band to the biggest and most successful. But in my opinion they should have quit while they were ahead. Read full review
