Excellent book- better than I imagined

Simon Beckett has the reader "in his pocket" from page one, sentence one. This second in the series of four thriller whodunits featuring forensic anthropologist David Hunter demonstrates Beckett's thorough research and background knowledge, and his talent for building a credible and engaging story. He takes the reader along for the ride as he delves into the intricacies of the crime, and of David Hunter's personality and experiences. Beckett's writing style is knowledgable, thrilling, but very down-to-earth. I bought this book because I am a classic "whodunit" fan, and I found this writer by accident in a condensed book series. Beckett compares in my opinion with the best of Agatha Christie, P.M Carlson, Val McDermid, Colin Dexter, Nevada Barr et al. I could not put it down, I read the entire book in one sitting, and I subsequently bought the other three "David Hunter" books in the series. Well worth a read, in my opinion.Read full review
