About us
All sorts of clothing items are sold in the boutique - jackets, dresses, formal wear, shoes. I started selling on ebay in order to pare down my extensive wardrobe and shoe collection.
The logo for my boutique is Mathilde the mannequin. She has a long history and is probably 35 to 40 years old. When Charlottesville, Virginia, downtown department stores began to close in the 1980's, Mathilde and four other mannequins went to "Far Fields" the home of a noted Albemarle sculptor, Pat Alliger. Ms. Alliger kept the five mannequins in her living room - a huge round space - half of the windows in this large round space looking out on the Blue Ridge Mountains. The mannequins were painted vibrant colors, draped in exotic sheer fabrics which then swirled up to the pyramid ceiling.
I restored Mathilde to her present beauty. She has an almost Mona Lisa smile and looks serious and sad. This dress, currently on sale in the boutique, is the one in which she looks the most beautiful.
