More subdued than the illustrations BUT this is actually a good thing. Accessories made from this Kydex have come out looking subdued and classy without looking too "paramilitary" and being mistaken for something neferious. Easy to work with, doesn't go "over the edge" too easily and so is much more forgiving if slightly overheated. It has a very distinctive smell when at the perfect temperature, I go by this more than anything else.
