  This item was described as new. the carton had not been opened. This scanner replaced my original, same model and possible age. My computer accepted it right off. Well wrapped for shipping. Have not used it much yet, time will tell. Shipping costs were probably about right. I watched this item for several weeks and looked at others, but this was the only new I saw. So as to value, to me it was worth the purchase and taking the chance. Thank you.
