He is a member of the Royal Philatelic Society (London), Royal Philatelic Society (Victoria), British Society of Australian Philately, Australian Commonwealth Collectors Club of NSW, Canberra Philatelic Society and the Perfin Club of New Zealand & Australia among others and is a former consultant to the Australian Commonwealth Specialists' Catalogue (ACSC).

Brian is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Cooma.and served two terms as an Assistant District Governor in Rotary District 9710. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International..
