Monty’s has a rich history dating all the way back to 1856, and we have been located in the old English, Scottish & Australian bank building since 1968.
Monty’s originally established on George St. Sydney under the name NSW Monte De Piete. In 1883 N.SW Monte De Piete moved into a new building located on Castlereagh Street in Sydney, right next door to Cartier. Monty’s continued to expand and opened new offices in Newcastle and Melbourne, as well as heading north and opening a Brisbane store in 1900. In 1966 we rebranded to Monty’s and in 1968 moved from the famous Rex Theatre right next to our current home.
Monty’s continued serving the Brisbane community and in 2022 underwent a full transformation, with a stunning refurbishment of our retail store and a complete rebranding focused on our heritage.
