NECESSITY for little ones with ear aches
I have used these ear drops on children for the past 30 years. They work quickly and help everyone get some sleep. Often I have taken my kids into the doctor and there isn't enough ear redness to warrant antibiotics (then 2-3 days later there is-and then I get the antibiotic)....
But, these help that in between time as well as the pain radiating from teething. I put 2 drops in when my baby is cranky and pulling on their ear and the relief is fast and well worth the cost.
One thing you have to worry about with any topical benzocaine(which is in these drops as well as tooth pain medicine) is methemoglobinemia. If you notice your child showing alarming symptoms, take them to the ER. (headache, shortness of breath, nausea, rapid heart rate, fatigue and lethargy, confusion or stupor or loss of consciousness....--its listed on the back of the box) Its very rare, but worth mentioning! The incidence is unknown, speculation is between .001% and 0.1%. It usually occurs with much higher doses than these ear drops contain. A retrospective study from 2 large teaching hospitals in the United States identified 138 cases of acquired methemoglobinemia over a period of 28 months.
It occurs more in infants who are less than 4 months of age.
Kids always seem to have more ear pain when lying down (the pressure increases when lying down). Prop the kids head up a little and use these wonder drops. I love them and always keep two bottle on hand just in case!
I love these drops!!!
