Even if you don't like cats!
This is a great story I've just read for second time. Heart warming and humorous it's tough not to rush out looking for Scottish fold cat to adopt! The second one is just as good - based in France.

excellent read for less able readers as is short and to the point!
I bought this for a couple of students who needed to engage with a text and start to interpret what was on the page in a different way (ie higher level reaidng skills). This also is at an easy enough level for poorer readers to be able to be questioned about their interpretations of text (even autistic students) at high school. The cat has a typical teenage personality so it fits well with the high school attitudes that prevail and leads to some useful discussion on character development. Thankfully is simple to read. Recommended read when led by a creative teacher.
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman (Paperback / softback, 2015)

Brilliant book, unexpectedly funny and touching. Even though it's set in Sweden it is uncannily similar to UK. Backman is a mstaer story teller
