Authentic Replica of 1940s Toy: Good for War Games
Skybirds were the first company in Britain to make accurate model airplane kits between the world wars. They also made a few metal 1/72 scale toy soldiers and army vehicles. Timothy acquired the rights to the existing models of soldiers and vehicles and has extended the range, although he sticks to the period 1935-41. The soldier models are crude in detail and paint, BUT they are tough regarding handling - which makes them great for 1930s and early WW2 wargames. You won't lose bits from your model tanks or break a soldier. Of course, you can repaint them if you want to. Highly recommended.

This Osprey "Duel" book covers the development of the British Churchill and German Tiger 1 heavy tanks and how they performed in combat with each other. The Churchill was a development of WW1 designs: the "high track run" (high on the sides of the tank) and small gun. The Tiger 1 was better armed and armored, but complicated and difficult to maintain. The book will help me in small-scale tactical wargames.

Nice detail but fragile plastic parts.
The plastic that the models are made of shows a lot of fine detail which is far superior to old Airfix, etc. However, it is brittle. One leg of the mortar bipod broke off when I wasn't holding it! Please be very careful as you remove the soldiers and the mortar from the sprue. They look very good when painted.
