Why was this Cancelled, its Brilliant!
Back in 2001, the ABC network launched a new half hour series called "The Job" which starred comic Denis Leary(TV's Rescue Me, The Thomas Crown Affair)as a New York City Police Detective. The series focuses on Mike McNeil(Leary)and his fellow detectives(played by comic Lenny Clarke, Diane Farr, Bill Nunn, John Ortiz, Julian Acosta & Adam Ferrara)who not only solve cases but also get themselves involved or stuck in crazy situations, that often end with hilarious results. The series also dealt with Mike's life outside of work - where we learn that Mike is not only married with a kid but also has a girlfriend on the side and is dealing with numerous addictions(such as pill popping, smoking & drinking). After a trial run in 2001, ABC renewed the series for a 2nd season - and the laughs just kept coming. Unfortunately, ABC ended up canceling the series after just 19 episodes and leaving the series with a major cliffhanger, never to be solved, in episode 19 due to the cancellation. Even though the series was praised by critics before its debut, throughout its run and after its cancellation - it wasn't enough to make ABC reconsider this awful decision they made. The complete series was released on dvd in a 4-disc set that includes all 19 episodes from both seasons as well as extras like: Behind the Scenes footage, Cast Interviews, Promos, and an interview with both Denis Leary & producer Peter Tolan. Although many people would say Leary's current series "Rescue Me" on FX is the better show I'd have to disagree with them and fully recommend "The Job" to all those who haven't seen it - who ever thought a cop show could be this damn funny, definitely check out this show or make a blind buy thats exactly how good it is. One of the best 80s films of alltime!
The reason I bought this movie is because I enjoy it very much and also because I'm a dvd collector - so I couldn't resist buying the 2-Disc OOP Special Edition dvd. The movie, for those who don't know, is about a semi-truck driver named Jack Burton(Kurt Russell)who teams up with a friend of his as well as others in order to help takedown an evil oriental demon named David Lo Pan. This is one of John Carpenter's best films, long before his eventual descent into suckass movies like "Ghost of Mars" & "Vampires". If you haven't seen this then I suggest you pick yourself up a copy, make some popcorn then sitback and enjoy the ride that is "Big Trouble in Little China". Dan "DTMS" Steinmiller, Ohio Film Critic

The Best Film in the Series
In this 4th Installment in the Harry Potter series, our young wizard finds himself placed in the Tri-Wizard tournament - a competition consisting of 3 dangerous events. During all this both Harry & his friends(Ron & Hermione)also deal with the dreaded threat known as puberty: Harry struggles with the concept of asking a girl out, Ron still acts like a nervous wreck & Hermione finally snags her first date. Another highlight to look forward to is the long awaited return of Harry's quote on quote nemesis, Lord Voldemort(played brilliantly by Ralph Fiennes). I thought this follow-up was a huge improvement over the disappointing 3rd film(HP & The Prisoner of Azkaban)which really sucked and didn't seem to add anything major to the series. If you have any young ones that want to see the film be cautious because this time around the film is rated PG-13, instead of PG - due to some darker themed elements within the film. Overall, I give the film a 9 out of 10 - it not only makes up for the lame 3rd film but also adds a little something extra that all fans(of the books or just the movies)will enjoy. Dan Steinmiller
