Great bang for the buck when it comes to room/ambience recording.
We are going to use this one as a room mic in our rehearsal room. It has all advantages of an omni mic (no proximity, realistic response, less distortion, less price). Delivers a flat responce (if mounted in the middle of a flat continuous wall, which promises many other advantages) with a realistic picture of what's cooking here in the room; a reasonable impedance (of 200 Ohms) that should give a plenty of head room for loud sources as well (like drums). It might make perfect sense to try a stereo pair (play with positioning thoug). Golden-plated XLR connectors, made in Japan, what else?

Must have mic for any studio. The only mic to have if you need only one.
Exceptional mic for kick drum, bass and guitar cabs, male voice! Competes with md421 on kick, though needs a more distant placement from the drum for better performance (to my mind). Anyway, the kick literally kicks *ss and seem to not need any EQ, compression whatsoever. I should have gotten this mic first, before any other mics in my locker. In fact, now I am considering getting all Beyer mics (to the m201 and m88 TG I already have), especially ribbons. Would easily get another couple of 88's to my locker though (for tracking the entire band at a time).
