When comedy was funny

Classic British comedy about a bunch of misfits avoiding action in WWII. The low production values count for nothing against the scripting and the acting - Spike Milligan nominated Windsor Davies' portrayal of the brutish, semi-literate Sergeant-Major Williams as the greatest acting performance he had ever seen. And it's funny - makes countless comedies produced since seem not like comedies.
