The most convenient magnifier

This headband magnifier is lightweight and easy to wear. The positioning of the batteries at the back of the head gives a balanced arrangement that is far superior to those that have a frontal battery housing integrated with the lens support. Those are very heavy and require additional support. I tried those first but find this headband far more comfortable to wear and less obtrusive. I can even use it to provide illumination without the lenses. The field of view is smaller than with spectacles but for close work I do not find it a disadvantage.

Won’t fit a sherline lathe.

I bought this thinking that it would enable me to fit my Unimat Chucks and collets onto a Sherline lathe but it won’t fit. Although the thread appears to be correct it has a deep recess for a register, which the Sherline chucks do not, so that the length of engagement with threads of the spindle would be minimal, but more importantly the threads of the adapter bind with the spindle threads of the lathe before it is fully screwed home so that it is unusable. Strangely the adapter fits perfectly onto another adapter that I have for fitting a Sherline chuck to a rotary table so I am keeping it for that reason.
