A nice old Nikkor.
This lens is in very good condition for an approximately 35-year-old lens. Aperture and focus rings operate smoothly. Optics are clear and tack-sharp, and the exposed (from the rear) aperture blades are clean. The only issue is that the built-in lens hood droops a bit when fully slid forward, but that's typical for this design Nikkor after many years of usage (the 200 mm f/4 AIS Micro Nikkor is another example). This is a great old optic from a time when many lenses had character and personality compared to today's sterile-looking "G" designs, and this "ED" version is still a serious performer.

Great auto-diaphragm convenience
If you want auto-diaphragm convenience with a non-reversed lens mounted on a Nikon PB-4 or PB-5 bellows unit, this BR-6 ring, in conjunction with a BR-2a ring, is the solution. The BR-6 features a connection for a double cable release, such as the Nikon AR-7 or AR-10, which allows the auto-diaphragm action. The BR-2a ring screws into the back of the BR-6 ring, providing the male F-mount necessary to couple the lens and ring assemblage to the bellows lens mount. The BR-2a has three different mounting start points (noted by three black dots) available, which aids in getting the BR-6 cable connection in the desired location (upper left, when facing the lens). Due to the random alignment nature of threaded components, you may still need to fashion a shim or two (brass shim stock if you have the facilities, or black construction paper and a paper circle cutter [ 52.5mm shim center hole] if you don't) to get the cable receptor exactly where you want it. The rings are typical Nikon-superb workmanship.

What I need, no more no less
This is the exact focal length range I wanted. There are similar lenses that go down to 17 or 18 mm on the low end, but I don't need anything wider than 20 mm, so, perfect! The constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the range is another plus. A nice addition to my F4 system!
