Watch the film, Read the book
1 of 1 found this helpful For those of us who read the book before watching this film, it was difficult to contain any frustration. As with any novel which has been metamorphasized and transported into the world of hollywood, they never quite come out unscathed.
There are some good points about the movie. The sets are fantastic, the special effects supass their time and the narcotic atmosphere created by Lynch is a specticle in intself.
However on the negative, the movie cannot seem to keep at a consistent pace. It begins with a slow build-up, allowing a chance to get to know or heroes, then almost spirals as years pass by and our characters begin to become side-line fodder to the eerie cinematics and story narration.
ON THE WHOLE
Dune fans should watch this movie, if anything for the exerience. Sci-fi fans maybe worth a watch, but don't expect to be blown away. And honestly, I wouldn't hastily recommend it to anyone beyond those criteria.
All I can say is: Read the book, much, much better
