A winter shipping necessity
1 of 1 found this helpful We use these when we ship young chicks or hatching eggs during the colder months and also when transporting young birds for delivery. Have used over 100 and have only ever had one fail. You will need to start activating the packet at least 30 minutes prior to using...they take a while to start heating up.

We have purchased, to date, 6 Peck-O-Matics and will be purchasing about a doz more in the near future, as we can afford it. We've had no major problems with the mechanisms sent in the kit except one difficult cup holder clip. However, the buckets we have chosen are opaque (purchased at Lowe's), so that we can see the feed levels by just walking by the pen. These buckets are just fractionally smaller than the funnel in the kit, so we have had to trim the funnels. Otherwise, they work great. We also started each pen with a bigger feed dispenser washer than needed, so the birds would not work hard to get feed the first round. Barely a tap and feed falls out. After the first bucket empties, we change to a smaller washer for less waste and the birds have already learned to make the bowl swing.
