Chemistry by John McMurry, Why to buy Textbooks online
First off, I feel that the whole Collage Textbook process in this country is a scam. There is no reason for a textbook to cost up to a third of the price of the class you are taking. That being said searching early and shopping around, all though time-consuming can save you tons. For example, the new price at my campus bookstore was a little over $200, and the used price was $151! I was able to get it here on ebay for $70; and I’ll be able to sell it back later either at the campus bookstore or online and make that money back! Now about the book; I’ve read a bit of it and have found that even though the writing style is a bit technical, it is very thorough and has some great examples. There are plenty of color diagrams to assist you and several problems to challenge your intellect. The only downside about the problems is that the solutions in the back of the book are a little lacking. For that may I suggest looking for the “Selected Solutions Manual” by a VCU professor, Joseph Topich. He has gone through the book and given great detail on how to come up with the answer, a good resource to check out the way you did yours and compare the two to figure out if you were right or where you went wrong.
