Western Union

I read Zane Grey's book "Western Union" and enjoyed it very much. Then I remembered that there was a movie by the same name. So I bought it to see the comparison with the book. The movie is pretty corny but fun to watch the actors before they became famous - Barton MacLane, Chill Wills, Randolph Scott, Robert Young, Russell Hicks, Vance Shaw, Victor Kilian, Virginia Gilmore. I was dissapointed that the movie did not follow the book very well - the book was much better and more exciting - but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

To Hell and Back

I have a personal reason for wanting this movie. I met Audie Murphy back in 1950 at a dinner in Bakersfield, where I was living at the time. I read his book and he autographed it. At the time, this was a good movie, in my opinion, and I was impressed with his bravery and leadership. Even tho it is dated now, I bought it for sentimental reasons. It is fun to see this old war movie again.
