Essential for those who love their music not main stream
Unless you lived in the times and in the areas of Britain when and where the bands on this compilation were playing, you had no chance of knowing about them, other than of course, the few bands listed on the compilation who managed to get the attention of recording studios with associated promotion of the band's material. Having lived (just!) through the period that this music was recorded, not living in Britain gave me no chance of hearing the music of the bands on this compilation, other than music by the aforementioned artists who managed to get recording contracts. Grapefruit have done a magnificent job compiling the artists and songs on this, and on many of their other compilations, so as to bring these gems to the attention of those of us who loved the era and the music that we did previously have access to. To finally have access to many of these bands is a great experience for those who love and collect music.

Essential if you like heavy rock, psyche rock, stoner rock and have an open mind.
Comprehensive and essential late 60s early 70s British heavy psych. There are some familiar names here for those who live outside Britain, the bands who went on to bigger and better things and managed to score a recording contract. The other bands who appear on this compilation would have been worthy of a recording contract had they been in the right place at the right time, but the power always lies with the record companies and bands who didn't fall within very defined parameters struggles to get a look in. I would need to be particularly mean spirited and overly critical to punt any song off this compilation. Not all the bands/songs are polished; not all have been recorded to a high degree of technical proficiency, but wow do they deliver some fantastic music, often awakening deeper senses of listening pleasure. Living in Australia I never got to hear these bands in their day. So damn pleased to be able to hear them now.
