Excellent load capacity with potential
I needed a low profile ball head that could rigidly support a 5kg rig. After many hours of researching, only the XB-44 (rated at 40kg) fitted the bill at this price point.
The ball locks solidly and it effectively supports my XT-2 with grip and 100-400 lens or a motion slider rig for time-lapse photography.
However after only a few days use I found the ball friction control wasn’t effective above a 2kg load, furthermore the pan lock became gritty and uneven.
I therefore pulled it apart, found the root cause, contacted the manufacturer and requested some spare parts to fix.

Works as designed but needs tweaking to make it a great product.
1 of 1 found this helpful Fitted to a 2012 Ford Transit Mk7, needed spacers (none provided) to raise it up 12mm to clear floor panel ribs and get a snag / twist free fit. Product seems sturdy and finish is ok. Only minor criticism is the quarter turn lock bolts, as you swivel the top seat plate the bolts drop down and snag the lower plate. A simple spring on each bolt would make the swivel process easier.

Very rigid and strong pano clamp for the XB-44
I have have used couple of Sunwayfoto discal pano clamps on various ball heads but needed one that would get close to the load capacity and rigidity of the XB-44. The DDH-07 clamp has a strong and wide square set of jaws which improves rigidity over narrower discal pano clamps. Mounted on the XB-44 it does push the overall ball head weight to ~550g. Although this a small price to pay to get a very solid pano platform for a large camera rig. Fitting was easy, a dab of Green Loctite on the bolt thread and not overly tightened, yields a very fluid pano movement. This clamp on my XB-44 mounted on my custom made Feisol tripod makes one very flexible and stable platform that weighs in at ~1.5kg - Perfect for travel without compromise. All in all, its a great product with 1st class service from CGUK....Highly recommended.
