No substitute for Stewart if you are a self-learner
I used this product without a course to teach myself calculus. I had tried a few other calculus books, but Stewart is the best. The material is explained in a systematic fashion, and the exercises are very helpful. It is possible to gain a firm grasp on each concept being presented without the aid of a lecturer or a university course if you just read through each chapter and work through the problems.
Early Transcendentals covers the same material as Stewart's Calculus, but the chapters are ordered differently so as to cover the natural growth function and logarithms early in the course.
