    This is compatible with Harman Kardon System in a BMW e46.
    Description says that you need an extension cable to the trunk if you have the Harman Kardon system. You don’t need the cable. The initial installed will reveal that there is no sound while the unit is saying it’s playing. This is because the old head unit supplied a remote power on signal to the amplifier to tell it to turn on. That signal is not there with this new head unit. All you need to do is go into your trunk and disconnect the amplifier harness from the amp. Take the cover off the the two different harnesses. One is black and one is brown. They are labeled with numbers to let you know what pin slot you are dealing with. Find pin #10, it’s a white wire in the brown harness. This is your remote antenna wire. Splice into it and run the wire to the back of the deck and find the harness that has two remote antenna blue wires. Doesn’t matter which one you use. If you tie pin #10 and one of these blue wires together, turn on the deck, and voila, you have sound coming out of all the speakers. You don’t need to buy a $70 extension cable if you do this.
