FATEFUL STORY OF IRISH INDEPENDENCE
3 of 4 found this helpful I love Irish movies as well as most that are not US made.They are not pretty and painted with plastic characters that have had Botox and facelifts. This movie gives one a feel of what the struggles were like, though I am sure they were more horrible than portrayed. The scenery and sets seem so authentic compared to many pictures. One has to have a good ear to pick up conversation in this film as it is definately Gaelic brogue, and often fast. That part could be frustrating to a person that isnt familiar with the speech. The story holds water, and is compelling. I have already passed this movie on to family and friends and all are praising the movie.

POIGNANT, FACTUAL, DELICIOUS READ
0 of 1 found this helpful I am partial to Nuala O'Failain Books to begin with. This book follows a "Stunning Irish Immigrant girl who comes to America as so many did, to survive. Her body is her resume and ticket to survival. It is NOT glamour as so many books and movies portray prostitution. It is purely terrible. The book is filled with the true history of what the US was like for women and men of that era, the turn of the century. It isnt pretty. The character Chicago May had written her story, and Nuala O'Failain fills in the details. An excellent read that has one thinking of just how simple and easy our present day world is in the US for women. There was no such thing as THE GOOD OLD DAYS.
I reccommend to anyone who likes a factual book that has a tragic story within.

Absolutely Mint and Great
1 of 2 found this helpful A perfect mix of scores of Roy Orbison songs...Love it..I decided to buy it when I saw his concert on PBS and realized I did not have a CD of his music, only cassettes. Quickly went to EBAY and found it immediatedly, a buy it now, and had the music in 3 days. PERFECT
