Upgrade for Early 2008 iMac

I used this processor in an early 2008 iMac Core2Duo 2.4ghz process to give it some more horse power. Other than taking the old iMac apart, this was an easy swap. My reading revealed this is a direct swap and the iMac's power supply and cooling system will handle this upgrade. I do not have an temps to share at this time. Others that have done the swap mentioned this processor is hotter (42W v/s 35W of the original Core2Duo) but the temps of the machine did not increase enough to be concerned about. While it was apart I added an old 128 GB SSD drive and upgraded to 4gb of DDR2-800 ram. All of this turned the sluggish old machine into an entirely different machine.

Great for computer speakers

I purchased this to use as speakers for my office computer. The unit I found on eBay was a trade show demo model that had been in storage for quite some time. The original box and most of the original shipping materials were in place when it arrived. The condition is like new - the appearance and quality is what I have come to expect with Onkyo products. After two days on my desk, I have put it through the paces will all kinds of music and I am very impressed with this little system. The sound quality and clarity especially shines when listening to classical and jazz music. (Pipe organ and brass instruments sound surprisingly full.) I also appreciate the clarity of the vocals in both music and podcasts. If there is one complaint that I have it is the "acoustic presence" feature over the traditional bass/treble settings. My work around is using the graphic equalizer features of my Mac Mini to tailor the sound to my liking. Looks sharp, sounds great, takes up little space on my desk, and Onkyo quality - What's not to love!

Upgrade for early 2008 iMac 8,1

I purchased this memory to upgrade an early 2008 iMac from the original 1gb it shipped with. (I have also upgraded the processor to a 2.8 GHz Core2 Extreme processor and installed a 128GB SSD drive.) Installed the new ram, pushed the power button, and the Mac booted right up. I am very happy that it works as Macs can be particularly quirky with memory choices.
