Great performance but irritating technical recording.
The people involved are beyond reproach. The original performance recording was analogue so this is an ADD CD by EMI Classics. The quality is good, as expected, but the volume ranges from almost can’t be heard without turning up the volume to really loud requiring volume turn down. Really irritating. Probably this indicates over managing the CDs production. All of this is excused by the quality of the musicianship. This is a fine historic recording, worthy of a collector’s library.

Now an historic disk for the archives. Technology has moved on.
An original DtD Telarc CD recording. The performance and playing are now fairly dull and the later sound dynamics of Telarc don't appear in this recording. Own it as an historic piece as it is now 40 years since the original production. Its worth comparing the disk with that of Telarc's Jacques Loussier jazz versions of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The difference in sound quality and performance is remarkable..

Music of the hH
I never tire of listening to this CD. The music is unusual being played on an upright piano and not some type of commercial, concert grand. There are limits to the sound quality and recording technique but they can be excused given the nature of the performances. The folded paper sleeve is unusual and makes it difficult to remove the CD without touching the surfaces of the disc.
There is a special spirit in the compositions and in the playing by the composer.
File it under Essential Listening.
