Bonamassa's Ballad of John Henry...Awesome! Classic JB!
Bonamassa's The Ballad of John Henry CD hit the mark as one of his best. My favorites are Stop!, Lonesome Road Blues and Funkier Than A Mosquito's Tweeter. The title track and Quarryman were very excellent. JB is my absolute favorite blues artist bar none. He's given a modern twist to the classic blues riff by incorporating his signature blues shredding/alternated picking style. I loved the "classic" arpeggio he throws into Tom Waite's Jockey Full of Burbon and the masterful revamping of the song. I also like the way he revitalizes some of the old blues songs that may otherwise have slipped into obscurity; like Ailleen Bullock's Funkier Than A Mosquito's Tweeter. Besides his guitar virtuosity, Joe Bonamassa was blessed with a beautiful voice and sense of timing that makes him destined to go down in history as one of the greatest blues artists of all time...and then there's the amps....the amps....ahhhhh!
