The History of Railways in Britain, Ferneyhough, 1975
A fairly comprehensive history of British railroads from an expert author. It was published in the 1970's. Generally, it is in timeline format, and is a good overview of the railways. A good, solid work--nothing that will blow your socks off if you are already a fan of British railroading.

Heyday of British Steam
Fairly good video, with original footage. Like some other railway dvd's, a bit roughly produced, as expected with a hodge-podge of 8mm film from the 50's-60's. Enjoyable for an enthusiast, but much like the myriad other films of a similar nature. I didn't learn anything new, but just fun to watch the trains.
