Word salad deluxe..
If you like the lyrics from "I Am the Walrus," odds are that you will enjoy this 2 book compilation (originally published separately in 1964 and 1965. The first section, "In His Own Write," includes many short works that were culled from "Mersey Beat," the Liverpool publication that chronicled the music scene as Beatlemania struck. The second book, "A Spaniard in the Works," has more of the same, but with several longer works. Some of it can seem like word salad, but that's just Lennon being Lennon, a true artist on many levels. In his poem "The Fat Budgie," you will see the following lines:
"Imagine all the People
Laughing till they're sick."
I wonder if he knew that the "Imagine" line would one day be incorporated into future lyrics... This book is a must have for any Lennon fan!
