Worthy upgrade
13 of 13 found this helpful I bought this camera as an upgrade from the em-5, and I am glad that I did because of the superior viewfinder, ergonomics, and new features. Though this is a complex camera with an overwhelming amount of customizable options, I found it simple to set up once I purchased Mastering the Olympus OMD EM1 by Darrell Young. My major reason for upgrading was my dissatisfaction with using the heavier Olympus Pro 12-40mm lens with the em-5. The 12-40mm lens feels natural and well-balanced with the em-1 body. The ergonomics are much superior overall. With the em-1, it is easy to make adjustments to camera settings without removing one's eye from the viewfinder. I am still experimenting with the camera and do not know if its IQ is superior to that of the em-5 or not. So far, pictures seem to be of the same quality, though reds come out more pleasing in pictures taken on the em-1.
