Makes amazing coffee, is highly portable, easy to clean, simple to use, but difficult to master.
This little beauty may not look like much but it packs around 8-bar of pressure when used correctly, which happens to produce a rich, bold espresso with a nice little layer of créma on top; very close to what you would find at a cafe. More than the great coffee this thing produces, it is also a great teacher. I bought this machine knowing very little about coffee-making and now after over a month of using it, I've learned a tremendous amount about how to make the perfect espresso due to its manual operation. Because of this it took me a week of making bad coffee before I finally got it right, but it was completely worth it. Something else I learned is that it is important to run hot water through it before making coffee so that the coffee comes out hot, but this is no big deal. After all it takes no electricity to use!
Other than this, it is solidly built, small, and also quite light at around 1.5KG. I literally throw it in my backpack when I travel interstate so I can make perfect espresso wherever I go.
To anyone looking to learn to make great espresso, this is the perfect tool. If you're a travelling coffee snob, you'll also love it (especially when you're camping). If you are just looking for an affordable solution to having a perfect espresso every morning, this is also the machine for you (although it may challenge you at first!) but overall I love my ROK espresso maker and would highly recommend giving it a go!!
