    Cucina Amore, by Nick Stellino
This is probably a somewhat one-sided review. I was already a fan of Nick Stellino's from the days when PBS carried his cooking show on Saturday afternoons. His philosophy of looking at cooking as something with which to have fun and create wonderful and easy dishes always appealed to me. I loved his attitude of using what you like and what you have handy, instead of worrying too much about the exact letter of the recipe. I love this book. While some of the recipes I enjoy more than others, I haven't been disappointed by any I have tried so far. His family stories, photos, and cook's hints that line the margins are an added bonus.

    A Child's Book of Stories (1986 edition)
I love this book. More importantly, my six-year old and sixteen-year old do as well. This is, after all, the whole purpose for purchasing the book - my attempt to share something uncommon with my children. The older child loves the beautiful illustrations and the younger takes in the original versions of old favorites with great interest. This is a collection of (they say) eighty-six classic children's tales. The publisher has gone to great pains to produce a book that has the feel of an old quality edition. It has a leather gilt-embossed spine, is printed in old style type on heavy paper, and includes color plate illustrations by Jessie Willcox Smith. This volume is 463 pages of great stories, fables, and folk tales written closer to the way past generations first knew them, with their originally-named titles, and authors and sources, if known, are credited. These are not the modern media versions of these stories. This is one of the best things I have purchased. It has taken me back to stories others read to me as a child and is giving me a chance to share them in their more original form with my children. Most are short enough to be bedtime stories. Far from being confused or bored, my six-year old has loved them all so far. I love it and can find no drawbacks. It is everything I hoped it would be from the description and more. I rate it as excellent!
