Well-loved book continues to give joy
Paying full retail for children's books is just silly, in today's economy. E-bay offers used books and insists the seller describe the condition accurately. I love the Good Dog, Carl books and so does my grandson, so this latest one -- Carl's Christmas -- is being enjoyed to the fullest.
The crease on the cover is a bit deeper than I expected, but it's not a problem.

Children writing their own stories
I love to hear my 3-year-old grandson making up wonderful stories in between the first and last pages of these books. The author give us the first page, and then the child gets to study the pictures and write his or her own scenario. Our little guy adds something exciting or different, every time he opens the cover! This is the greatest tool for encouraging imaginative thinking.
I decided to buy it because a friend recommended the series. Pre-reading is the most useful - and the most fun - activity a grandparent can share with a toddler.
As a former teacher, I only wish I had found Alexandra Day much sooner.

Best teaching aid available
1 of 1 found this helpful With text on the first and last pages of this darling book, a child is set free to "write" his or her own story. The child may want to tell the same story over and over, or he may create wonderful, whimsical tales each time the cover is opened. This is one of the best children's books I have seen in many years.
