Not very good
4 of 6 found this helpful If I had to pick my least favorite Dark-Hunter book, this would be it.
I believe the only reason this book is getting good reviews is because of extremely loyal fans who will love anything an author puts out.
But, as a loyal fan of the hunters, this one worries me. The only comfort I take is knowing that this book was written recently and squeezed into the series, and that other DH book have already been written.
The main problem with this book is that it lacked the heart the previous book had. The last few books have been lacking that as well. My heart went out to Kyrian and Zarek but I didn't really care for Ravyn at all. I felt and, more importantly understood, their pain. Ravyn was, for lack of a better word, a wuss. He seemed all talk. And it was annoying talk at that.
I think it would help if the character was introduced in the previous book like they use to be. I.e., The reader had no idea who Alexion was until his book...and his is an important book. It's hard looking forward to a book when you know nothing about the main character.
Another problem is that I fear the AG is starting to care more about humor (which isn't funny) more than action and drama. Susan is sarcastic ALL THE TIME. During extreme emotional situations, she had something smart to say. That got annoying really fast. I felt nothing for the main characters.
I know all authors can't be perfect in all their books and this is proof of that. I skipped many pages and couldn't wait to be finished with it. It seems that this is a different series than the one I got hooked on.
Another thing, what happened to Ash? Please, AG, tell me you explain this later? Ash is a totally different man from previous books. He's whiney and annoying. No spine whatsoever. Bring back Ash!
This book has a cliffhanger that DH fans must read, but other than that I cannot recommend this book. It most definitely was not worth the 15 dollars I put out for it. I will continue to read the next books but it's going to be hard to stay interested if they keep with this trend.
Please, let us leave Ravyn and go back to the NOLA crew...
