Extremely funny
I bought this after seeing Rhod on an episode of Mock The Week. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I couldn't help laughing. It's not the usual stand up 'wait for the punchline' stuff, though there is some of that. It just works as a great routine with a very engaging personality, whose take on life I think sometimes mirrors than everyone's.
Definitely worth a look.

Elementary My Dear Watson.
I saw this film when it first came out, and it wasn't at all what I expected. I knew there'd be mystery and crimes, but the supernatural bits took me by surprise. That doesn't mean it's bad. It's well acted, well put together and the effects are terrific (and sometimes terrifying, though I think young kids today have seen so much they'd lap it up).
It tries to answer some of the questions that people have had about how Holmes turns out, and does that pretty well.
Of course, Conan Doyle was into the occult and exposing fake mediums and the like, so the story also takes into account some of his own views.
It is a film that both adults and children will enjoy, though I wouldn't recommend it for the very young ones.

Into the Unknown
I'd never heard about this before, or seen it, but when I read that Russell T Davies had written it, I had to have it. It is a bit dated in style, but then the series is actually quite old. But it gives a good insight into how he came to do the new series of Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures - the latter being the most obvious, as the series revolves around a group of children (well young adults) saving the world. It also contains Kate Winslet well before Titanic and looking good but chubby, way before the pressures of Hollywood made her feel she had to lose the weight and be a size zero.
I've chosen the excellent rating because it's a great addition to my collection and anyone into this kind of thing will love it. It's not the best thing I've ever seen, but it's definitely worth watching. You have to forgive some of the effects, which were probably their best at the time.
Good stuff, though.
