If you haven't heard of Rocky Athas, Get this CD = NOW!
If you haven't heard of Rocky Athas, guitarist extraordinaire, you are not alone. However, anyone who has ever played guitar knows the name. And his pure guitar magic. Rocky is well-known in Texas from his three decades of performing live at various venues. Many of the top rock guitarist know Rocky well = they all have "borrowed" his guitar-tricks, especially the "hammer", which I believe he invented around 1970. On "Voodoo Moon", Mr. Athas simply SHINES! Like a fine-aged wine, he has honed his skills and with the help of an excellent band (perfect, for this CD, in fact), he makes you want to listen again and again and again. Beautiful, tasteful guitar licks, timely fill-ins to compliment the song, and you can only sit and listen - oh, and most definitely be amazed at his fluidity and precision. Long-time Dallas friend, Larry Sanford, is simply soulful on vocals. It is good to see them together again after brief encounters in the 1970's. Rocky Athas only gets better with time. Sure, he can BLISTER AND BURN on guitar, and he knows it. However, time has made him not just a "shredder", but a complete, fantastic guitarist. Long overdue props to Rocky and band, who are finally getting the well-deserved recognition they, and he, deserve. Don't buy this CD simply because I said you should. No. Buy this CD because IT IS GOOD! EVERY song is solid. I promise you this = you will listen to this CD over and over. And everytime you do, you will appreciate this guitar master at work and the solid, soulful band behind him - and with him. Let Rocky Athas introduce himself to you. Believe me, you will not forget him. And if you already know Rocky, as I do, then buy this CD and give to a friend. They will thank you for it. Continue on, Mr. Athas. Your guitar legend grows with every listen. Truly, "Lightning" in a bottle.

    The Right TOOL
You know immediately upon hearing the new TOOL CD, "10,000 Days" that you are in for a wild ride. Simply put, this CD ROCKS! A must listen for any aspiring rock musician, especially for drummers. Tight riffs between bass and drums, excellent guitar work on top and the vocals finish it up. This could be their finest work yet. A couple of the tracks are spacy & dark, a bit slow at times, but that is TOOL. Time signatures keep changing and you never know which direction the band is going to motor. All in all, this is a CD you should own. In my opinion, it is money well spent. Oh, and what a killer CD jacket and insert! Again, nothing but the best from TOOL. Don't download these songs = contribute to TOOL. If any band deserves proceeds from their hard work and musicianship, it is TOOL. Buy the CD.
