You Are Not Alone: MJ at His Usual Best
1 of 1 found this helpful You Are Not Alone [Maxi Single] by Michael Jackson offers a superb listening experience for quiet time at home, driving or traveling by car, or as music compatible with most work settings. It presents Michael Jackson at his usual best...his vocal talent is all that one might expect and more, and the variety of approaches to presenting the song is most impressive. It is a beautiful ballad - it was the first song in Billboard Hot 100 chart history to debut at #1, and became the #1 single in six additional countries in 1995. It remains a wonderful sound today, and is so well executed by the singer in its various versions that it comes across collectively as analogous to different moves that one ordinarily expects from classical, symphonic presentations. Whether this feature of the maxi-single is intentional or happenstance it ultimately makes for a cohesive, unexpected, and highly effective CD. I made the purchase because I like the song so much and the ways in which Jackson executed it on the HIStory CD, the video, and during the his HIStory tour. This CD did not disappoint. Surprisingly, my greatest delight in listening to the CD was the medley of remixed songs at the end. The 6th number is a creative historical reminder of many of the number one hits by the singer, with smooth, innovative transitions from one song segment to the next that creates a well-orchestrated unit. The manipulation of horror film legend Vincent Price's laughing voice to the rhythms of Thriller is particularly noteworthy and puts a truly special touch on this CD. There is no real downside to this CD. It is purely and simply an A+, class act production.
