Dancing at the Rascal Fair by Ivan Doig.
Great narrative. An enjoyable read. two young men from 19th century Scotland seek an uncle that had emigrated before them to Montana. The characters are as colorful as those in the HBO series "Deadwood" They are challenged by the hardships of Montana and kept there by the opportunities. This is a great read for older folks. It'll make us miss our youth and sense of adventure all the more. We see a lot that youth may have missed in this wonderful story. Doig is masterful in drawing this grand portrait for us. Thanks to PBS for reviewing this and whetting my appetite for a good read.
