Epson quality, impressive scanner
1 of 1 found this helpful Fortunately, there are a plethora of cheap, All-in-One printers with built-in scanners, and the one's made by Epson, although excellent at printing, are no different from the rest when it comes to the poor quality of the scanner. My Epson XP-610 does beautiful printing, and everything else works great, but I spent hours scanning in photos and comparing the result to the actual photos, and determined to my chagrin that the scanner pretty much sucks. I then researched the issue and found that most of the built-in scanners were pretty much an afterthought.
But Epson to the rescue with a very well built, high quality external scanner, the Epson V300, to fill that void. If you're serious about getting all the detail from your old photos or slides, you can't go wrong with this excellent scanner.
Note: this is NOT the cheaper CIS type found in most all-in-one units, but a true CCD type scanner with an LED light source (no warmup delay), consistent color reproduction and long life, and it will do 3D objects. Add to this the wonderful driver software that includes automatic color enhancement for faded images and dust removal and photo restoration becomes less about seeking expensive, expert know-how through a photo shop and more about saving your precious photos for posterity.

THE Transistor Tester to buy!
This meter is an incredible value. Not only is it equivalent to the best alternatives out there, it is based on the latest design (some aren't), it was calibrated when I received it (some are not), it works (some appear to work but error in certain readings, such as capacitance) and it comes fully assembled in an easy to use, well constructed box.
Most of the units that come without a container are loose in the shipping box, including the screen which is only attached by a ribbon cable that is easily damaged. If you're lucky to get one of these units that works and isn't defective or damaged, you still have to deal with the loose screen every time you use it.
My previous order had a poor quality part holder (the thing with holes for holding the pins of the component being tested) that easily deformed inside after only the short time it took to test it and find out that it was defective. The part holder on this unit is top quality, holding parts very securely and not losing its grip.
My first order claimed to include mini-clips for testing parts without using the pin holder, but they were not included. Fortunately I was allowed to send it back.
Just to be sure I calibrated this unit after I got it, and it performed to perfection. I am very happy with this purchase, and I highly recommend this device to anyone doing hobby electronics or as a vocation. It won't replace a multi-meter, but it does provide very useful analyses. While my multi-meter attempts to read whatever value it can, be it diode or capacitor, this unit actually states that the device is bad when its parameters are out of a reasonable range. It is well worth the investment!

So far, so good.
I can't say much about it -- it works. I didn't detect any anomalies during testing, but that doesn't mean that some bad sticks don't get passed on. I'm just indicating that what I received performed as expected.
Some older Dells require this faster DDR2 or they simply beep at you with a memory error. They seem very finicky about memory in general. It's very convenient to have a online resource that beats out the price of the local scalpers.
Thanks eBay!
