Excellent structure and clarity
Of all the modern books on Logic (as opposed to the ones written late 19th Century), I have found that Hurley's excellent structure maps out logic the best. The chapter on definitions is thorough. The book assumes no previous knowledge and explains minor yet important details such as how words in Logic describe different terms as the same word in grammar or mathematics. Failing to explicitly point this leads to confusion. If I was only going to have one book on Logic, I would choose this one.
I found the exercises after each chapter helpful. There are enough of them but only every third came with an answer at the end of the book, which is why I have bought the Study Guide which accompanies it. It has additional exercises and answers to all the ones in the book.
