Automatic shut off is the best.
The machine works great, we turn it on just before going out to clear the snow. The machine boils the water, automatically shuts off and we are ready for hot cocoa when the walk and driveway are cleared. No worry about boiling the pot dry or the stove being on while we are out of the house.
