Bachmman On30 set of three log cars.
Overall it’s a good product. The detail is excellent and the trucks are modeled well. The couplers aren’t the greatest and I’ll probably change them to Kadee’s in the near future. I have a Bachmann 0-4-2 Porter and with the supplied resin logs, pulling the three log cars, the engine would slip climbing a 2.7% grade (1” in 37”). Once I replaced the resin logs with real wood it was able to climb the grade without slipping.

Good for short wheelbase locomotives.
1 of 1 found this helpful I can’t comment on the durability because I’ve only had it a short while. This switch contains the switch machine under the track and is powered by my DCC controller (Bachmann EZ Command II controller). No need for separate wiring. The instructions on how to program the switch are clear and easy to do. It comes with the frog unpowered. To add power to the frog , turn the switch upside down and you’ll see a small plug that you insert onto a prong. This is shown in the instruction sheet. This is the second switch that I purchased. The first one did have a problem with the Porter driver wheel stalling on top of the frog. I noticed the frog had a small piece of black plastic before and after the frog. The driver wheel was actually sitting on top of the slightly elevated black plastic insulator. I used a single edge razor to trim it even with the top of the rail and that solved the stalling. If this switch lasts then it will be worth the price.

Retaining clip springs too strong.
The retaining clips on the sides of the battery require a great deal of force to squeeze them enough to release the battery from the tool. I had to use a c-clamp to squeeze the clips enough to remove the battery. I tested the battery on several tools and a charger that I've had for some time and the problem was the same on all the tools. I believe the springs that create tension on the clips are too strong. I need the batteries so I won't be returning them to the seller. I will attempt to modify the retaining clips to reduce the amount of hold when inserted in the tool. I considered opening the battery case to replace the springs but decided against that idea.
