I love my new shreader. I had a Royal previously so after 15 years it gave out so, of course, I bought another Royal.
I love the flat top which creates another workspace and the fact that it closes is another bonus. Little ones can't get a finger caught when it is closed. It would be very difficult for a child to open the shreader to cause harm. It is quiet and sounds like it is really doing it's job. I'll buy another Royal when this one wears out in 15 years or so.!!!!!!!!
