Small high capacity portable disk drive
2 of 2 found this helpful This is my fourth drive in this format: 1 TB, 2TB, 2TB, 4 TB. The first drive failed after about 2 years. My assumption is that these drives will eventually fail. Currently I back up my portable to folders on each of the 2 TB drives. I then backup these to the 4 TB drive. Finally I have a larger desktop 4 TB to which I copy the small drive 4 TB. Both 4 TB drives are locked in a fire safe. I have a number of older drives that I can no longer access as my current computer has no interface for them. It took more than 24 hours to copy the two 2 TB drives to the new one. Since these drives are cheap I can afford multiple copies of my essential files.
