I believe that StarForce killed this games potential and cannot recommend.
First up, let me just say that while I like the concept of this game, it falls short of what could have been a classic and here's what I like about it and why it got such a low rating. I enjoy playing all kinds of RPG's and in a strange way this game's mood and tone reminded me of Troika's Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines with its gloomy open world hub areas. So far, from what I've played, your essentially a fledgling sorcerer of some kind in a supernatural conspiracy doing quests for your overlords coming to greater prominence as the story progresses (sounds familiar, right?). Except you're accompanied by companions that level up with you. So why the bad review of a promising game? StarForce. StarForce is the most brutal form of DRM I've ever seen in a game. You need a computer that recognizes it before you can play; and it's all downhill from there. StarForce begins to function in a similar way to malware. Every time I installed and played this game on my laptop it crashed so badly it always brought me to the system recover screen and forced me to load a previous configuration. Once uninstalled my laptop would have no further issues. My PC wasn't as lucky and I'm not entirely convinced StarFoce was innocent. Prince of Persia: the Two Thrones for PC had similar issues as did any other game using StarFoce. At the very least this was a decent game adaptation, but I can see why it didn't get the sequels that was planned. DRM issues aside, the game never actually went out of its way to be unique and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, it was done in a way to make gameplay rather bland. The writing was good, the black comedy at the absurdity of the protagonist's experience (imagine being told you're a wizard after botching an assassination and that your flashlight really is a lightsaber) was also funny, but the game had everything else going against it. I like the game, but I can't recommend it as anything more than an expensive chance to test StarForce's potential as dangerous malware.

A timeless fast paced arena FPS with custmisable botmatches when offline.
Well, I bought unreal tournament to fill that void of needing an arena first-person shooter. It's a great product from the get go and full of many different ways to customise bot A.I. behaviour, the match settings, and tweak pretty much most aspects of gameplay. Certain maps are just pure classics, like 'Face' and other such maps that I've seen throughout the series. On the downside however, are the character models - any character with an attachments at the back of the head and neck will make the head target bigger, like the long hair on a female humanoid. In fact, any extra attachment anywhere will make the recipient character easyier to shoot. Compared to other games I'd say that it's a bit dated, but no less enjoyable than say CoD: Ghosts, and just as customisable - except for weapon attachments. Really, when I purchase a game I make sure that it has an indefinite lifespan. This could include, map editors, botmatches, or even just a competitive mode of play, and Unreal Tournament ticks all boxes.

A funny nonstandard medieval fps with keyboard aiming.
I remember wanting to purchase this game because of how crazy the plot and gameplay were, I was not dissapointed... With the crazy at least, whle I found the controls a bit off when I had to use the keyboard to use vertical look, I also found of satisfaction in standing on the same catapult that previously launched a sheep over the castle gate and triggering the mechanism by whacking it when it would've been just as easy to use the gate doors. While this might not be the best game you buy, it is funny or at least quirky and somethin different.
