Murder One William Bernhardt
1 of 1 found this helpful This book is so good that after I finished reading it I mailed it to my sister on the other side of the country to read. When I first read the back of the cover I was reluctant to read it thinking it was going to be just gross and have bad writting. I'm so glad I read it after all! This book is roller coaster from beginning to end and one of the best mystery writers I have come across in a long time! I consider myself somewhat of the mystery expert. I read mysteries nonstop! Bernhardt has a fan in me!

A BOOK TO TREASURE! Please Read!
2 of 2 found this helpful At the start of the American Civil War many men of the Lumbee Indian Tribe of North Carolina volunteered to join forces with the Confederate States. However their patriotic intentions were shunned and not only were they not allowed to fight many of the men and boys were forced into slave labor in factories and prisons. To add insult to injury the living conditions were made intolerable to The Lumbee People. North Carolina passed a law declaring that no native people could bare arms and they were left at the mercy of the often dishonest Confederate Home Guard and passing Union Soldiers. This resulted in widespread starvation and horrible injustice to The Lumbees.
This book is based on the true, historical account of Henry Berry Lowrie and the woman who loved him-Rhoda Strong. Henry Berry Lowrie is often referred to as The Native American Robin Hood. Fed up with the injustice, starvation and forced abduction of young men he started what has been called the "Lowrie Uprising" to bring a measure of justice and survival to his people.
I am not only a Lumbee but also a descendant of the Lowrie family. This book brought tears to my eyes and yet filled me with much pride for the apparent courage and deep love that runs through my people. This author did a fantastic job of putting to paper a story that should never be forgotten and for that I am thankful.

A glimpse of sister and motherhood and being a woman!
1 of 2 found this helpful This is a story of three sisters who think they have their lives set, when fate steps in and throws them an unbelievable curve ball.
After the shocking and tragic death of one of the sisters and her husband it is automatically assumed that custody of their three children will be awarded to the responsible and self declared super-mom sister that practically raised the other two sisters (Joan Cusack). However a surprising reading of the will finds that custody is to be left to the younger super single, model executive, sister (Kate Hudson) and the adventure begins.
As the youngest of four sisters and a Mom, I can honestly say this movie is a fantastic and realistic portrayal of the best examples of sisterly love and hardships. It will make you laugh and cry all in one sitting. Even my husband enjoyed this touching movie. It has more than earned its position in our movie collection.
