Review of dvd Paul Taylor Dance Company in Paris
These dancers are very "together." (Multiple dancers move as one). I'm not particularly a fan of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, but the music was made bearable by the interesting choreography and the togetherness of the dancers. Usually when I'm watching a ballet, if I don't like the dancers I can still enjoy the music. This time it's the reverse. I like the dancing. The dancers are all bare footed.
The second part is Poulenc's Gloria. Very enjoyable. Dancers reflect the music well. Again the dancers are bare footed.

Togetherness in Swan Lake
Whenever there are multiple dancers doing the same routine, they are remarkably together. That holds for the 18 to 24 dancers in the flock of swans and it goes for two, three, or four dancers performing as one. The individual dancers are also excellent, and the story line is engaging. Very well choreographed and very expertly danced. It was my first look at the Swedish Royal Ballet. I almost didn't get the dvd because I have several other versions I enjoy, but I'm going to see the company next weekend at Segerstrom (Costa Mesa CA) next weekend and I wanted a preview. I'm happy I decided to buy this very well done dvd.

Superb dancing!
My interest is in music and ballet. The music was unfamiliar to me but had a catchy beat throughout, and the dancing was superb... so that despite the depressing theme regarding the extinction of various species, I greatly enjoyed this performance.
