A family tradition.
The expressions on the little mouse's face are just darling. This is a book I bought when my children were babies and we read it all the time. Whenever there was a new baby born to a family member or to friends, this was part of the gift package. Now that my son is expecting his first child, this will become part of my grandchild's library. It is one of the best books ever!

True friendship
This book speaks volumes about true friendship. At first the Tree is the world to the boy, but as time goes on the boy goes off in other directions, but never forgotten to the tree. The Tree loves the boy, so will give him anything out of love. But the boy never realizes how much he has hurt the Tree through neglect. In the end, though, they find what real friendship is. This was a book I read as a college student in the late 70's for one of my education classes. Then I bought a new one when I had children in the 80's. I purchased it over and over for my friends and family members whenever a new baby was born. I am now purchasing it for my first grandbaby to be. It is truly a lovely book and has become a family tradition.

So much fun
My sons, now 22 an 19, could rattle this book off to you by heart, even now. We used to read it starting out slowly, and then speeding up after the Moose would keep asking for more. My chldren, now adults, still love this book. I buy it for baby showers all the time. Now my oldest son and his wife are expecting their first child, and I have purchased it for my grandbaby to be. It is a truly delightful book.
